Senior School Curriculum

Key Stage Three (Year 7-9)

Pupils will select a Core Arts Pathway (CAP) from two choices. In Years 7-9, pupils will spend 5 hours per week on CAP subjects.  CAP will be options based, with a range of choices taking place each afternoon. These will include remotely accessible options for the hybrid model.
Students can work towards completing the Arts Council Awards (Bronze in Year 7, Silver in Year 8, Gold in Year 9). The Core Arts Pathways are:

1. Performing Arts (Dance, Music, Drama, Musical Theatre)

Pupils will explore the performing arts, through specialist lessons and training in drama, dance, music and theatre technology. They will be able to specialise in one of these disciplines, whilst gaining broader understanding of all of the areas. They will also learn about the creative arts industry, through carefully crafted entrepreneurship lessons, and will undertake the Performance Development programme, to enable them to build their fitness and performance psychology skills, to become the very best performer they can be.

Entry to this pathway will be via entrance examination, interview and practical audition in the specialist area selected.

2. Visual Arts (Media, Film, Design, Art, Photography)

Pupils will explore visual arts, through specialist lessons in art, design, photography, film-making and visual creation. They will be able to take a bespoke route through the pathway, specialising in a specific area of visual arts, whilst developing a broad range of skills across the disciplines. They will also learn about the creative arts industry, through carefully crafted entrepreneurship lessons, and will undertake the Performance Development programme, to enable them to build their fitness and performance psychology skills, to become the very best creative artist they can be.
