Wetherby Arts is a new senior school in Olympia, where the gold standard in academic excellence meets excellence in the arts.
Providing a unique model for academic and artistic growth, Wetherby Arts will deliver the academic excellence which Wetherby is famous for, combined with a strong focus on the arts, making the most of its connections within Olympia and the other outstanding arts centres of London.
Our aim is to develop students that will be ready to serve as the next generation of leaders in the wider arts sector.
Wetherby Arts will offer two core pathways: Performing arts (Dance, Drama, Music and Musical Theatre) and Visual Arts (Digital Media, Film, Design, Photography, Drawing and Painting). Classrooms will use cutting edge technology to reach beyond the walls of a classroom, making full use of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and the Meta Classroom.
Leveraging our location, we will bring industry partners into our campus and our students into the world of work.
Our home is London Olympia, the new hub for the creative industries in London. Leveraging our location, we will bring industry partners into our campus and our students into the world of work. To begin with, we have announced a collaboration with the BRIT School that will bring BRIT Kids classes to Olympia and an annual Arts Festival.
Wetherby Arts school will offer a broad curriculum covering the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, Technology, Languages and the Humanities. Students will be expected to take at least 9 GCSE’s and will be able to transition to A Levels, and then access a broad range of university destinations, in the UK and abroad. The school will have a strong co-curricular programme and devote an extended lunchtime to students’ activities outside the curriculum.
In addition to traditional subjects, Wetherby Arts will have a special focus on visual, creative and performing arts. A significant portion of the timetable will be devoted to the arts, without compromising on academic rigour. The school will support a wide range of arts-based GCSE and A Level options, alongside vocational qualifications. Our school will also teach visual and performing arts: these develop the skills and knowledge to access careers in the growing creative industries. Students will have dedicated entrepreneurship lessons and opportunities to produce and promote live performances, exhibitions, TV programmes, podcasts and other media.

Wetherby Arts will have a special focus on the creative and performing arts. A significant portion of the timetable will be devoted to the arts, without compromising on academic rigour. The dual focus will be made possible by an extended day (8.30 -16.30) and some specific curriculum adjustments: for example, weekly games’ afternoon to be replaced by a performing arts afternoon. Physical Education be a strong part of the curriculum, with activities and sport selected with the goal of enhancing performances.
Our school will not only teach creative and performing arts, but also develop skills and knowledge to access the growing industry of the Arts Business. Students will have opportunities to produce and promote live shows, TV programmes, podcasts and other media.
Wetherby Arts School will be in the prestigious Olympia development, a £1.3 billion regeneration of the West London cultural and entertainment district.
